Facilitated family play sessions can strengthen the child-parent relationship. This is helpful to both prevent, and reduce family relationship issues.
The Filial Play Therapy intervention provides education, demonstration and support for parents to develop skills in structuring, empathic listening, imaginary play and limit setting. The program can be tailored to meet the needs of each family and may include a combination of virtual and face-to-face sessions over twelve weeks. Families will be supported to learn at their own pace and be provided with practical skills and feedback that suits their individual needs. Follow-up consultations are available and will be discussed with the therapist before concluding the sessions.
